There are several ways to volunteer at Indian River Habitat for Humanity:
Construction Opportunities
One-Day Build Volunteer
Volunteer for a day by yourself, with a friend, or with a group. Workdays are 7:30 a.m. to noon Tuesdays through Saturday. The type of work depends on the status of the house. No experience required.
Weekday Volunteer
This requires a time commitment of at least one weekday per week for at least 3 months. Work days are 7:30am to noon Tuesdays through Saturday. No experience required.
Regarding minors volunteering on construction sites, please call Volunteer Engagement Coordinator about age restrictions, 772-562-9860, ext. 227.
Construction Crew Leader
Alongside Habitat's Construction Supervisors, crew help provide direction and coaching volunteers. A Crew Leader usually helps guide 4-5 unskilled or semi-skilled volunteers to produce acceptable results in a safe manner. Work days are 7:30am to noon Tuesdays through Saturday. Training will be provided.
Women Build Crew
National Women Build is an annual Spring event. There is no experience necessary, our jobsite supervisors and experienced Women Build crews will provide guidance and instruction. Learn more...

Food Angels
Every volunteer's favorite volunteer!
Prepare and/or deliver snacks and beverages to our hard working volunteers at the ReStore or Habitat build site. If you enjoy baking or simply want to pick up something, this is an easy but much needed part of our program.
Neighborhood Revitalization Program
The Neighborhood Revitalization Program (NR) focuses on providing affordable repairs for low-income families.
Join a team of volunteers as they come together to beautify neighborhoods one home at a time. Projects range from painting and landscaping to minor repairs. You will enjoy the opportunity of working side by side with residents as we improve quality of life for seniors, veterans and other qualifying individuals. Learn more about this program.
Volunteer Committees
Family Selection Committee
This committee is responsible for evaluating potential partner families. Based on information verified by staff, members recommend qualified families to the Board of Directors for final approval.
Family Support Committee
Mentor a new Habitat homebuyer by helping them through their partnership period followed by one year of homeownership.
Scholarship Committee
This committee is responsible for oversight of a program that assists Habitat homeowners and their children who are committed to advancing their education beyond a high school diploma and/or GED certificate, as well as providing financial assistance toward education-based after school and summer care programs. Special Event Planning
Perfect for volunteers who enjoy event planning. Events include the annual Bowl to Build Scholars, the new Jamaican-Me-Crazy Fest and Hop for Habitat, 5K Run/Walk.

Volunteer opportunities include:
Donation Processor
If you like to unpack boxes and find treasures, we have the perfect volunteer position for you! You will unpack, clean, test, ticket, and merchandize these wonderful treasures on the sales floor.
Merchandise Display
If you like decorating, organizing, and creating merchandise displays, then you have found your niche! Use your creativity to make all our great stuff look even better and easier for our customers to find!
Repair and Assembly Assistant
If you like to tinker and do minor repairs on furniture, tools, appliances, etc., then you can join a fun group of workshop volunteers!
DeConstruction Team Member
DeConstruction is the removal of building materials for the purpose of re-use. You will work with the team on removing kitchen and bathrooms accessories donated by homeowners in our area.

How to Become a Volunteer
STEP 1: Attend Volunteer Orientation
Volunteers should attend Volunteer Orientation prior to volunteering. Orientation takes place at our office, The Burnham Center, located at 4568 North U.S. Highway 1,Vero Beach. Orientations dates are listed below. If you would like to get started sooner, you may contact the Volunteer Coordinator for a personal appointment.
STEP 2: Volunteer Placement
Your volunteer experience is most important to us so will place you depending on your interests. Once we know your interests and availability.
STEP 3: Join the Habitat Family!
You are ready to be a part of our Habitat family as we work together to build homes, community and hope in Indian River County!
Our construction site is open Tuesday-Saturday from 7:30am-12noon. The ReStore is open from 10am-6pm Monday-Saturday with volunteer opportunities starting as early as 8:00am. Times and dates for Neighborhood Revitalization projects vary.
