What is Neighborhood Revitalization?
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must fulfill the following criteria.
- Must own a home within Indian River County.
- Household income must fall within income eligibility guidelines (see chart). Household income will be determined by assessing the income of all household members.
- Home must demonstrate needs for repairs.
- Home must be owner-occupied and serve as the primary residence of applicant.
- Homeowner must be a U.S. citizen or Permanent Legal Resident.
- Owners of multiple real estate properties are not eligible.
- Home may be a single-family residence. Mobile manufactured homes or trailers do not qualify.
- Homeowners and/or household members must demonstrate a willingness to partner with Indian River Habitat.
- Homeowners must be willing and financially able to participate in repayment.

How to Apply
The Neighborhood Revitalization program is currently accepting pre-screening applications for critical repairs and home preservation projects. Critical repairs include projects such as roof, air conditioner, and hot water heaters. Home preservation projects include wheelchair ramps, and exterior painting. We highly encourage Veterans, Senior Citizens, and Disabled homeowners to apply.
Please stop by the Habitat office, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. to pick up and complete an application.
Home Repair Application Steps
- Complete a Pre-Screening Application
- Telephone Pre-Screening Interview
- Attend Informational Orientation
- Complete full application and submit all supporting documents to include house deed and proof of income for all household members
- Home Assessment
- Construction Committee Review
- Approval Decision
- Homeowner Acceptance Meeting
- Invitation to Bid Period
- Contractor and Scope of Work Determination
- Home Repair Agreement Appointment
- Complete Homeowner Participation Requirements
- Project is Scheduled and Completed
- Habitat Inspection Completed
- Home Repair Contract Appointment
- Homeowner begins repayment
Community Outreach
Through Neighborhood Revitalization, Habitat partners with local organizations to identify needs and collaborate in neighborhood beautification projects. Community Outreach projects take place two to four times a year and are completed by volunteers, Indian River County residents, businesses and other groups.
