Rose Galloway
August 5, 2023
Nearly ten years ago, Rose Galloway packed up everything she had and made her journey to the United States. Though eager to establish roots and make a new life for herself, she carried her love of Jamaica everywhere she went, proudly boasting about her native country to all who would listen.
One of Rose’s first jobs in America was at a daycare center. It was here where she made herself two promises – to become a US citizen and a homeowner.
“I want a place for my children and grandchildren to call home,” Rose says.
Since entering Habitat’s homeownership program, Rose has accomplished all she has set out to do and then some. From completing all the necessary program requirements to establishing relationships with fellow homebuyers, volunteers, and staff, Rose has truly put down roots in Vero Beach.
“The unity and interaction between everyone on the job site is great – we’re like a family.”
Rose now dons her new nationality with pride, but the next title she is working harder to achieve is homeowner. Today’s Home Dedication is one of her last stops on her journey to homeownership.
“When I came to America, I had two dreams in mind. Today, I am one step closer. The possibilities are truly endless when you put your mind to it!”
