Did you know that according to Global Citizen, furniture currently makes up more than four percent of the 258 million tons of waste produced by Americans each year?
Instead of throwing away items you no longer have a use for, why not consider donating them to the ReStore?
Your donation not only helps generate funds to help build Habitat homes for working families, but it also helps to keep items out of already congested landfills.
Upcycling is another great option to consider before saying goodbye to furniture from yesteryear!
It’s amazing what a simple coat of paint or fun design stenciling can do. For the more adventurous “DIY”ers don’t be afraid to try furniture flipping, like converting an old dresser into a storage bench; repurposing closet doors into room dividers; or making garden boxes from the wood of old furniture pieces. You can even DIY items you find in the ReStore and add your own stylistic twist to match your at home design aesthetic. Following are a couple of examples.

On Earth day, and every day, let’s continue to do our part in keeping the earth as “green” as possible.
