Tim Burson’s Story

Martin Luther King once said, “The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.”

Tim Burson is not letting adversity define him or dictate his future. In fact, he is working harder than ever to build back stronger than ever.

Tim and his late wife rented their Vero Beach home for several years before it required critical repairs. While his house was renovated, Tim, his wife, and two children lived in a hotel for four months. Little did they know that when they walked out their home’s front door, it would be for the last time.

Amid becoming displaced and looking for another rental, Tim’s wife was battling an illness that she ultimately succumbed to. As a newly single father, Tim was drowning in mounting medical bills, and rental searches. He was desperate to get his family back on solid ground.

Tim thought the tide was changing when he secured a rental home, however, his landlord put the house on the market after just one year. The family of three were housing insecure once again.

Tim and his two children sought refuge at a homeless shelter, bringing only with them the things they could carry. This forced them to part with much of their past.

Tim is eager to build stability and security for his family during this season of change, turning to Indian River Habitat’s homeownership program for assistance.

“My background is my testimony,” Tim begins. “With God, everything works out.”
