Our Programs

Everyone deserves a decent place to call home

Affordable Homeownership

Indian River Habitat for Humanity is dedicated to addressing the pressing need for affordable housing using the following approaches:

  • The construction of new homes throughout Indian River County with the help of volunteers and homebuyers;
  • Recycling previously built Habitat homes through re-purchase for resale to Habitat homebuyers;
  • Rehabilitating existing homes and adding them to the inventory of Habitat homes available for sale.

Our Home Repair Program

Whether living on a fixed income or earning an income that falls within 30 to 80% of the area median income, the cost of needed home repairs can be a great cost burden for working families and sometimes results in families, the elderly, and veterans having no place of their own to call home. Through this Program, Indian River Habitat participates in community development efforts and thereby fully embraces its mission — it’s not just homes we’re building, we’re also building communities.

At least 80 families are served annually through this Program.

Homeowner Scholarship Program

Through the Habitat Scholarship Program, Indian River Habitat supports the post-secondary educational goals of Habitat homeowners and their dependents by helping them reach for an education beyond high school or GED certificate. Through this Program, Indian River Habitat:

  • Provides scholarship awards of $1,000 – $2,000 a semester to help cover the cost of tuition and fees at accredited colleges, universities and vocational training centers.
  • Helps Habitat homeowner parents meet the cost of education based after school and summer school by providing stipends of up to 75% of the associated costs.
