From New York to Florida, Elba Ortiz has continued to make a career out of her God-given passion – helping others. “Christ calls us to be like Him. I’m not only His servant; I’m here to serve,” Elba said.
As the Affiliate’s new Family Services Associate, Elba’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to: assisting visitors and potential homebuyers with care; receiving and accepting mortgage payments; helping to further explain and promote Habitat’s mission; and more.
Prior to joining Indian River Habitat, Elba worked at Solaris Senior Living. At Solaris, Elba worked with the residents and their families. From scheduling visitations, to helping residents with various tasks. For Elba, the job at Solaris prepared her well for her new role at Indian River Habitat.
“The Family Services Associate is a critical role on the Indian River Habitat team. Working at the front desk, Elba is the face of our organization for everyone that walks in our door. From our first meeting, Elba spoke enthusiastically about the calling she felt to Habitat and this position in particular. We are blessed to have her,” Jeff Francisco, Director of Outreach and Impact said.
When she is not acting as Habitat’s Family Services liaison, Elba enjoys antiquing, taking cruises, exploring new restaurants, and reading.
