Charlie Shain

Charlie Shain’s journey at Indian River Habitat began 9 years ago at the ReStore. After a year as ReStore Warehouse Assistant, Charlie transitioned to a role on the Construction Team as Field Supervisor.

Having always enjoyed “tinkering,” as he puts it, working in construction aligned well with Charlie’s background and interests. He’d always enjoyed woodworking, recalling his time as a carpenter’s apprentice early on in his career.

For Charlie, Habitat’s mission is more than just a job. “Working with our families is so meaningful; I can’t think of any other job in the field of construction that runs parallel to this.”

In 2017, Charlie became Construction Supervisor of Habitat’s affordable home repairs program. In 2020, he was named Construction Manager, joining Indian River Habitat’s leadership team. As Construction Manager, Charlie coordinates and supervises all aspects of new construction, home repair, and home rehabilitation program operations.

“I feel as though I’ve loved my job for so long, that it truly loves me back.”

The outdoors is not just Charlie’s office at Habitat, but also the venue where many of his favorite hobbies take place. When he is not working, Charlie enjoys softball, baseball, golf, and running marathons.
