Habitat Offers Higher Education & Community Service Opportunities for Homeowner Youth

Seven teens from Indian River Habitat for Humanity's Prep Club journeyed up the road to Patrick Air Force Base July 13 for a tour of the 45th Space Wing. While there, they visited the Defense Equal Opportunity Management Institute, and the Professional Development Center and enjoyed lunch at the award-winning Riverside Dining Facility. A highlight of the trip was in the 45th SW Fire Department, where they got to test their speed in donning special fire gear in a teeny amount of time. Americorps VISTA Resource Coordinator Debbie Parcher, Habitat Development Associate Jessica Schmitt and Habitat volunteer Al DeRenzo accompanied the group. The Prep Club is part of IR Habitat's youth support program, providing guidance for teen children of Habitat homeowners as they seek higher education, Habitat also has a college scholarship program for qualified Habitat youth. For further information on how you can help, contact Ms. Parcher at 562-9860 X232 or Jessica Schmitt, X229.To learn more about the Prep Club and the Scholarship Fund, contact DEBBIE PARCHER,772.562.9860 X232 or dparcher@irchabitat.org.
