From the ground up, Women Build's got it covered!

DAILY CONSTRUCTION SCHEDULE

 |
Habitat for Humanity International established Women Build to promote the involvement of women in the construction of Habitat homes. Since that time, hundreds of houses within the United States have been built by women crews. Women Build projects provide an environment in which women can feel comfortable learning skills they might otherwise not have the opportunity to learn.
The local Women Build was started in 1999 and the first Women Build home was constructed the following year, under the direction of Jill Jones, with a group of local women who did almost all the work, ordered materials etc. The current very successful, award-winning Women Build effort was organized and recruited in 2005 by Sue Croom, who continues to spearhead the Women Build teams, which consist of area women from all walks of life and experience. They are skilled in every aspect of Indian River Habitat construction: building walls, laying floors, installing windows, roofing, siding and finish work.
To date, IRHFH's Women Build crew has built 11 homes in Indian River County and has also provided funding for seven Habitat homes. Currently there are approximately 100 Women Build members working on Habitat’s Oslo site and 50 working in the Fellsmere site.

Other Ways To Get Involved
We are asked from time to time to help with cutting wood in the warehouse for bird house and herb box building; to help pack up everything in a home that was left to Habitat; to help with the annual fund raiser, Habitat Cracker Hoedown; or to participate in the Christmas Parade.
Habitat Home Center
We have designated Mondays as "Madeleine Mondays" at the Habitat Home Center. Arrive around 9 am and ask for Madeleine Kerns. She will instruct and direct the needs for that day regarding merchandise to be marked and put out on the floor. Store Manager Dave Sneed sometimes has small projects for WB as well.
