HELP US BUILD HOPE IN HAITI

Haitianh kids thank Habitat

Today, more than 6 months after the earthquake that left 300,000 Haitians dead and 500,000 injured, many families have shelter thanks to the Habitat for Humanity effort, but more than 1.5 million Haitians remain homeless.

Indian River Habitat for Humanity (IRHFH) has pledged to raise $120,000 in new money to build 30 HFHI "core houses" in Haiti as part of Habitat  International's efforts to serve 50,000 families in Haiti over the next five years.

Click here to watch a video: Habitat's Core House Designs.
HFHI Director Christine Odom travelled to Haiti to see first-hand Habitat's work there. She met many families with  a roof over their heads  because of Habitat's Affiliate Tithe! One new mother was very far along in her pregnancy when the quake hit.  She had lost her housing, and had nowhere to go. But, because of the help provided by Habitat, her baby was delivered inside a new shelter and out of the elements!

Who We Are

Indian River Habitat for Humanity has been in operation on Florida's Treasure Coast since 1991 and has built more than 235 homes throughout the county. In addition to construction, Habitat also performs renovations and repairs on qualified existing homes through our Neighborhood Revitalization Initiative.
Our campus includes administrative offices, a warehouse and our Home Center Store and is located at 4568 N. US 1 in Gifford, just north of Vero Beach.

Habitat Home Center Store

This 30,000-square-foot facility is a vital fund-raising arm of IRHFH, having generated $4 million in sales since opening in 2005.  Donated building supplies, appliances, furniture and home decor items are brought in daily, and donors receive receipts for tax purposes. The Home Center is OPEN TO THE PUBLIC Monday-Saturday, 10-5. Click to learn more.

Volunteers Are Our Lifeblood

You can be a Habitat volunteer in several ways, on the jobsite, of course, but also by serving on committees, providing snacks at the jobsite, at the Home Center, office work, and working with our homeowners to ensure their success. Click to learn more.

Do You Know Someone. . .

Who might be a good Habitat homeowner candidate? We are seeking applicants in Indian River County who are serious about becoming homeowners.  If you are interested, for yourself or someone else, please call Lindsey Goodall at 772-562-9860 X211. Click to learn more.
