Become A Family Support Partner

The Family Support Committee at IRHFH is in need of Family Support Partners for new families who are beginning the Sweat Equity process.

A Family Support Partner is a volunteer who basically nurtures a partner family through the process of becoming a Habitat homeowner.  Once paired with a family, a Family Support Partner makes a commitment to that family from the time of selection until at least 6 months after the family moves into their new home.  During that time, a Family Support Partner’s responsibilities to their family range from staying in touch regularly (anything from a  weekly phone call to in-person visits) to encouraging the family throughout the process and assisting the family with the groundbreaking ceremony and/or home dedication.

The influence that Family Support Partners are to their partner families is an intricate part of the process and is what makes this volunteer position so important.  If you are interested in becoming a Family Support Partner for one of the new partner families, you must have a willingness to commit to weekly contacts with the family as well as monthly meetings of the Family Support Committee.  Training is held monthly.  To sign up, please call Lindsey at 562-9860 ext. 211.
