Born in Batesville, AR, Emily Wicht moved to Vero Beach from Abingdon, VA in September 2010 to begin a year with Indian River Habitat for Humanity as an Americorps volunteer, coming on board as a staff member the following year. Emily attended Emory and Henry College and has had experience working with other Habitat affiliates, including a week rehabbing houses in Des Moines, IA, where she also lived in a Habitat house; and a week-long Build-A-Thon with the Bay-Waveland Habitat in the Gulf area. (This experience made a lasting impression, Emily says.)
In her leisure time, Emily enjoys hanging out with her dogs, Tater Tot and Nellie, riding her bike; cooking; and - The Beach.
About working for Indian River Habitat, Emily says, "I love working here. Where else am I constantly surrounded by loving, caring people - staff, volunteers, families - and get to change people's lives! And I love working where we pray all day and there's no line between my work life and my spiritual life.
