Can You Help Meet the Food Pantry's Current Needs?
In an effort to assist Habitat's homeowners during an economic hardship such as loss of job, reduction of hours, or an extended illness, Indian River Habitat for Humanity established an Emergency Food Pantry in December 2008. The Food Pantry exists to help homeowner's temporarily feed their families while in the midst of unexpected economic hardship. It has made the difference between going to bed hungry or having basic food items in the house while families are awaiting acceptance from other resources within Indian River County. Since inception, IRHFH's Food Pantry has provided emergency food for over 50 families.
The Food Pantry relies solely on the generosity of the Indian River County community. During the summer when the kids are home from school and our seasonal residents have flown north, the cupboards can be a bit bare. We are currently in great need of the following items:

Canned vegetables Canned tomatoes Juice Boxed potatoes Baked beans Hot dogs 1-pound pkgs. of ground beef (we freeze it) Peanut butter Jelly Sliced bread (we freeze it) Rice Spaghetti sauce Spaghetti/pasta
Can you help? Food donations may be brought to our offices on US 1 just north of 45th Street.
