Board of Directors

Chairman
J. Earl Morgan

Earl is the Senior Vice President and Managing Director of Private Client Services of The Northern Trust Company. He has been with the bank in Vero Beach for 16 years and in banking for 38 years. Earl and his wife Elizabeth have 2 daughters, Jessica and Julie. In 2001, Earl co-chaired the United Way Campaign and he currently is President of the board of McKee Botanical Garden.

Vice-Chairman
David C. Colclough

David moved to Vero Beach in 2003 with his wife Amy and son Cameron to take on the position Assistant General Manager of John’s Island Club. Amy is a dental hygienist and Cameron is 16 year old junior attending the Indian River Charter High School. He and his family attend First United Methodist Church, where David serves as a trustee. Their family has been to Belize and Honduras on two mission trips with the church. He has enjoyed working on various HFH jobsites in Vero Beach and Palm Beach over the past 12 years. David currently serves on the Board of the Florida Chapter of the Club Managers Association of America as Vice President.

Treasurer
Roger W. LaJoie, Esq.

Roger has been a resident of Vero Beach since 1981. He is a graduate of the Univ. of Notre Dame and Nova Univ. School of Law. Prior to establishing his own law firm he was Of Council to Robin A. Lloyd, Sr. & Assoc.  Roger is a current member and past President of the IRC Bar Assoc. He is very active in Holy Cross Catholic Church where he is a Eucharistic Minister. He has also been the Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus at Holy Cross. He has served on the Board and is the past President of Sun-Up of IR. Roger provides pro-bono services to Habitat homeowners and enjoys volunteering on the job-site. He has 3 sons and is married to Patricia Schlitt Mills.

Secretary
Connie Poppell

Connie has been married to her husband Ralph, (former State Representative for the 29th District), for 30 years. They have four children and eight grand children. She retired from SunTrust Bank after 40 years of service. Her last position was as VP of Community Development for South Florida, a territory that stretched from Miami to Indian River County. Connie and Ralph attend First Baptist.

P. Andy Beindorf

Andy, a 4th generation Vero Beach resident, is a Senior Vice-President of Center State Bank. Andy previously served for 3 years on the Habitat Board of Advisors and in addition, he and his former bank have sponsored and volunteered on 3 Habitat homes. Andy and his wife Ana Maria, a retired schoolteacher, have two boys age 26 and 22. Andy also serves on the Board of the Florida Bankers Association and is a past President of the United Way and the Indian River Chamber of Commerce. He and his family attend St. Helens Catholic Church.

Susan Billero

Susan graduated from the Univ. of Delaware with a BS in marketing and management. She and her husband Gene moved from NJ to Vero Beach in 1993. They have three children, Hollie the oldest recently married Jon Buldo, E.L. and Victoria are both in college. Susan and Gene are the founders, owners, and managers of Billero & Billero Properties, a Real Estate company whose employees are avid supporters, sponsors, and volunteers of habitat for Humanity. Susan and her family attend Holy Cross Catholic Church.

Peter Clements

Pete has been a “State Certified General Contractor” since 1985. Currently Pete runs his own general contracting firm, Pinnacle Construction of the Treasure Coast, LLC.  He and his wife Kim, have 2 children: Chelsea 22 and Colby 21.  They are active members of King’s Baptist Church where Pete is a deacon. Pete feels Habitat has a wonderful witness in this community, and he loves to give of his time and talents to our organization. Pete previously served on the Habitat Board from 2003 to 2008.

Sue Croom

Sue joined the Indian River Habitat for Humanity Board of Directors in July, 2007.  She first volunteered with Habitat in 2003 as a Family Support Partner and in 2004 became a construction volunteer in our Grace Grove subdivision.  She is the current chairperson of Habitat’s “Women Build” program.  Sue is a third generation Floridian, and has resided in Vero Beach for 36 years and is a member of Christ Church.  She currently sits on the VNA Hospice Board of Directors.  Sue has two children and four grandchildren.

Diane DeFrancisci

Diane DeFrancisci attended Bates College in Lewiston, Maine and received a Master of Science degree from Adelphi U. in Garden City, Long Island.  She is a former science teacher and business owner from Long Island, New York. She has served on the Grand Harbor Community Outreach Committee and also the Indian River Hospital Foundation.  She chaired the first Habitat House build for the Realtor Association of Indian River County and was a member of the RAIRC Board of Directors for 3 years. She has served on various committees for Habitat.  Diane is a REALTOR with Alex MacWilliam, Inc. Real Estate.

Not Pictured Helen R. Crockett

Helen came to Vero Beach as a toddler in 1956, as her father was beginning his medical practice.  In growing up in Vero Beach, she had the privilege of being one of the original 32 students of St. Edward’s School at its inception in the 1965-66 school year.  She has enjoyed a successful career in the insurance industry in Vero for the past 24 years, which led to her opening her own independent agency, The Crockett Group, along with her husband Jim, in 2008.

Helen and her husband have been active volunteers in the ministry at The Source since 2001, where Jim currently serves on the Board of Directors. She has also been a volunteer with Care Net and the American Cancer Society.  Helen is a very active attendee and volunteer in her church. She and Jim have been blessed with five children and nine (soon to be ten) grandchildren.

Rene J. Donars

Rene and his wife, Alice, have resided in IRC for the past 14 years.  Eleven years ago he retired from Porter Cable as V.P. of Sales and Marketing.  At about the same time Rene started to volunteer with IRHFH working on numerous projects including the editing of the quarterly newsletters, annual report, videos along with other publications.  He attends Holy Cross Catholic Church where he is an usher and member of the Our Lady of Guadeloupe Committee. A Past Grand Knight, he is still active with the Knights of Columbus on their annual golf committee for charities. Rene was a mentor with the Youth Guidance Volunteer Program and recently ended a 6-year term on the Board of the Samaritan Center. He is a long time United Way supporter and serves on their annual audit committee.

Annie Grace Foster Annie Grace Foster is a life-long resident of IRC. She has lived in Gifford and was educated at the former Gifford HS. She graduated from Florida Memorial College with a B.S. degree in English Education and from Nova Univ. with a Master’s in Educational Administration. Annie is retired after 41 years in the IRC school system. She has three grown-up children and she attends Gifford Church of Christ. Annie is involved in the Gifford Civic League, NAACP and the American Cancer Society, where she is a member of the Board of Directors.
Todd Heckman

Todd and his wife Theresa have three children Tyler and twins Brad and Kevin. He and his family moved to Vero Beach 14 years ago from New Jersey. Todd has his own financial consulting company, Estate Planning Advisors. He and his family attend First Presbyterian Church. Todd previously served on the Habitat Board of Advisors and is currently on the Board of the Coalition for Attainable Homes.

Isabel, practically a life-long Florida resident, is the branch manager for Oculina Bank Fellsmere office. She is currently a Charter Elite member and Treasurer for The Exchange Club of Fellsmere, she serves on the Advisory Board for the Boys & Girls Club in Fellsmere, is an ambassador with the Sebastian Chamber of Commerce and past Board Member for Treasure Coast Community Health Center.  Isabel and her husband Mizael of 19 years have 3 boys, ages 18, 16 and 2.  She and her family are members of Our Lady of Guadalupe Mission in Fellsmere.

Rev. Clifford V. Melvin

Cliff, a third generation Floridian, is the Senior Pastor at Christ by the Sea United Methodist Church. A 20 year Habitat volunteer in various locations in Florida and North Carolina, as well as a leader of construction and disaster relief mission trips, Cliff is passionate about providing practical help to those in need. He is a proud graduate of The University of Florida and an avid Gator fan. Cliff’s son, Matt 26, lives in Charlotte, NC.  Rev. Melvin enjoys cycling, swimming, and weight lifting.

Sandra G. Rennick, Esq.

Sandra is a lifelong resident of Vero Beach. She graduated cum laude from Stetson University College of Law in 1998 and is an attorney with Gould Cooksey el al where she specializes in real estate matters. Sandra’s community involvement includes service on the Board of Dollars for Scholars, the Board of the Vero Heritage Center, and prior service on the Habitat Board from 2002 to 2007 and the Habitat Board of Advisors. She attends St. Helens Catholic Church.

Rev. Carol Trax

Carol is the Minister of Pastoral Care at the Community Church in Vero Beach.  She previously served as Minister of Missions as well as on the Boards of the Homeless Services Council. She currently serves on the VOAD Steering Committee. Carol and her husband Mike have three grown children and four grandchildren all living in Florida. Prior to moving to Vero Beach in 2000, they had lived in Stuart. Carol previously served on the Habitat Board from 2003 to 2008.

Freddie Woolfork

Freddie and his wife Debra have 3 children and 3 grandchildren. He is a lifelong resident of Indian River County. He graduated from Florida A & M University with a Bachelors of Science degree in Education. Freddie currently serves as the Director of Public Relations & Facilities Operations for the Gifford Youth Activity Center.  He is on the BOD/Council Chair of the Gifford Front Porch Revitalization Council.  Freddie and his family attend St. Peter’s Missionary Baptist Church where he serves in the music ministry and is also a deacon.
